Concept of artwork 設計理念:

Brushes are tools everyone uses, but no one really pays them attention. Quickly they get replaced by a new model. Porcelain is valuable, pure and durable, which brushes are not. When it is possible to separate bristles and body of the brush, only the bristles could be renewed. The porcelain body can be easily cleaned after removal. Porcelain is the perfect material for the body of a brush and it can accompany you, even for a lifetime.

其他說明:

I prefer to have one item I get used to and share my life with instead of many ones. This is hard to do with brushes (because they don´t last long) and very easy to do with porcelain (because it lasts forever). So I used the durable, valuable and pure porcelain to let brushes in the bathroom and kitchen shine: When it is possible to separate bristles and body of the brush, only the bristles (used and dirty) could be renewed. The porcelain body can be easily cleaned after removal and can accompany you forever. Both parts (bristles and body of the brush) are connected: When you fold the bristles in half, the folded end takes more space, which makes the connection possible. The cobalt blue ring on the porcelain shows the direction: how to put the bristles into the body. To make the plugging easier, the porcelain body is tapered inside. It's best for brushes to hang upside down (to keep their shape and let water and dirt fall off) so there is also a porcelain hook for every brush. During my work I always asked myself: How useful is the combination of the two materials for each brush? Therefore the comb is only made of porcelain and the dish brush only of bristles.

This is really interesting work! While I give this work a high score I think this maker does need to further resolve some shapes and refine some forms. I love the clean and elegant aesthetic and feel these ceramic objects have real life in todays need for more sustainable products.
