The series began with a fascination of what the hand represents in its manifold, potent for Gerald as a maker having a hands on relationship with the material he works with. He often sees these hand motifs as self portraits to a degree, expressions of his hands drawn from habits, mannerisms and different relationships, be it of harmony or conflict concurrent to events personal and external in the past year.
