Concept of artwork 設計理念:
This collection of lighting was created to emphasise the translucency of bone china. Various materials have been added to create texture in the surface. Some of the materials burnt away, leaving negative impressions of the shape. Others remained through the firing and left a coloured speckle in the clay. These textures are highlighted through the translucent of the bone china when light is shone through.
This lighting collection has been created through adding various material into the bone china slip. The surface has been sponged away to reveal textures that these materials have created. If organic materials were added, they would burn away in the kiln firing to reveal a negative imprint in the ceramic body. Grounds of earthenware clay were also mixed into the bone china slip, which would melt in the high temperature firing and leave black speckles in the ceramic body. These patterns formed into the pendants are highlighted through the translucency of the bone china when light is shone through.
