Concept of artwork 設計理念:

Fabric Formula No.1 is a set of ceramic tea sets, which changed the traditional making process of slip casting, for the purpose of showing the unique beauty bought by textile in mass production. When a piece of fabric of the right size is inserted into the mould for slip casting. The slip automatically attaches the fabric to the inner wall of the mould due to gravity, that is, the inner wall of one mould is covered by the fabric. Correspondingly, half of the ceramic texture of the demoulded ceramic product comes from the fabric texture naturally. As for the form of Fabric Formula No.1, half of the ceramic after the moulding is like being elegantly wrapped by the fabric, resulting in an interesting contrast with the smooth, natural surface pattern coming out of traditional moulding. Through this works, I explored the possibility of different roles of general fabrics in mould production. The uncertainty caused by artificial factors is thereby transformed into the unique beauty of the product itself. In the context of mass production, giving each product a unique shape will result in the unique relationship between the product and the customer

其他說明:

The handicraft sector in many industries is rapidly being replaced by machines. Industrialized high-efficiency production methods have indeed brought high profits and benefits to enterprises, and have also reduced instabilities of manual manufacturing. But in turn, some of the uncontrollable factors of handicraft create unique attributes for each product itself. How to combine handicraft imperfection and the standardization of industrial production is the theme of my design philosophy.

整体和谐中富有变化。

As already mentioned above this kind of design is attempting to bring new ways of creating shapes to the world of mass production - but as seen here, sometimes very far from function.
